To: All potential and current applicants for UConn’s Executive Leadership Program 2020-21 Cohort
From: R. Villanova, Director, Executive Leadership Program

Thank you for your interest in UConn’s Executive Leadership Program. We’ve had significant interest from educational leaders from around the State for the 2020-21 Executive Leadership Program cohort. The new “bridge” pathway that allows credit carryover from the Executive Leadership Program into the Department of Educational Leadership Ed.D. Program for leaders accepted into the Ed.D. Program has been a welcome addition for interested educational leaders. As you may know, this program has a proud history of preparing district leaders with a special focus on superintendent preparation for 20 years.

The March 24 Information Session has been canceled due to the coronavirus. If you planned to attend the session, please contact me directly to set up a time for a phone conference so I can overview the program for you and answer any questions you may have. My contact information is below.  Most program details are provided on the website - except for the new/revised dates below.

The entire application process must be done on line through the link provided on the website. All support materials must be uploaded with your application.  Please be sure to review the qualification requirements detailed on the website. If you have any trouble with the application upload, please contact Kim Shirshac ( in the Department of Educational Leadership office. The posted application deadline is April 15, but I encourage you to apply ASAP. I realize that many of you have already completed the process.

Shortly after April 15th, we will be conducting online interviews for all applicants who have completed the application process. The interview format and requirements are also outlined on the website.

We will notify all accepted applicants as soon as possible after these interviews.

Due to changes in school district schedules, the first Executive Leadership Program class has been shifted to July 27-31, 5 full days. Please consider these dates tentative until we all see how events unfold over the next couple of months. The class will not be held during the last week of June as previously announced.

I hope this information encourages you to remain interested and enthusiastic about UConn’s Executive Leadership Program.

Best wishes for good health and safety,
R. Villanova
